How can parents get involved

PerformingArtsWhit_2.jpg

Thanks to an ArtsWA grant, PAW is able to pay a Director and Vocal Director but we also need your help!

All remote parent or high school volunteer roles:

Webmaster:  2 hours per production.  This position would get a Whitman PTSA email that is attached to the Wix site.   Their job would entail opening and closing sign-ups (which are already set up) and advertising upcoming auditions.  The cast list would be posted after the auditions.  The only real time-sensitive aspect is the cast posting which is usually before 5p the Sunday after auditions (the audition volunteers would give you an email).

Communications Coordinator:  15-30 minutes a week during the production. Receives and organizes the sign ups from the Schedule Coordinator. (These Microsoft sign ups automatically get put in an Excel spreadsheet.)   Sends weekly updates (with information from the director and rehearsal coordinator).  Orders the T-shirts from the sign up in the spring.  (Already filled for the spring.)

Schedule Coordinator:  (3-4 hours per production) Fills out the building rental forms in August (schedule is decided over the summer in a meeting with the committee) and keeps track of confirmation emails (would have to reserve the lunchroom or gym if auditorium is booked).  Has the SPS email so sends the weekly updates to the students.  This update is written by the Communications lead so you would just forward it.  Puts the rehearsals on the student's outlook calendars which cannot be done until after casting.

Marketing/Graphic Design Coordinator: (2-4 hours per production).    This volunteer creates the Playbill using the logos the students submitted and will create signs to hang around WMS as well as marketing to send to our feeder schools.

Audition Lead: (4-7 hours before every production)

Sets up, advertises for, creates sign up genius for student volunteer slots as well as parent judges.  The audition lines and forms are already done and the judges will likely be the same as we had in fall.  Learns casting process from the Producer.

In Person Parent or high school Volunteer Roles:

Rehearsal Helpers:

No theater experience needed.  Performance groups will run through stations to maximize their rehearsal time.  These parents will be a station and have a copy of the script and be the audience for when the students run through their lines. Sign up for 1 or more rehearsals.

Tech Support: (2-4 hours per  production)

This job can be done in the evenings after work.  This person with stereo, AV or tech experience would help me set connect XRL cables and position speakers to maximize our sound a week or so before the show.
